Am new to this site. I am wondering if anyone has has experience treating a dog with DM? AFter receiving a grave prognosis from the veterinary hospital (after months of pressuring them to carry out diagnostic tests etc) eventually we were told that Molly has DM and that there is nothing they can do. We had no choice but to return to homeopathic treatment. My friend who is a homeopath prescribed Lathyrus Sativa and Plumbum Met both in 30c, twice a day. After her intial dose, she stood. We could not belive it (and I did not want to believe it because I was determined not to get my hopes up again!). In the few weeks leading up to the presumptive diagnosis and then the subsequent dose with Lathyrus, she went from bad to worse. She reached her low point after coming out of hospital when she lay on the grounf to defecate. It was so upsetting, my doggy is so so proud and would never have done that! She could not move her hind legs at all, and was being carried everywhere (she is not small either!)

After the first remedy she stood, and then fell again! We both just stared at her standing on all 4's swaying gently from side to side and we were afraid to look at each other! We kept the dose the same and over the next few days, I had calls from my parents to say that she had managed to take a few steps before falling, or that she had managed to get up on her legs from sitting and then fell. Most recently, i noticed that she is able to urinate and defecate in the usual squatting position and she may fall after a few seconds.

Now the improvement appears to have stopped! She has not got any worse which in itself is great, but I was expecting the miracle to continue! Now, she is still very bad, but improved on what she was.

I am also concerned that perhaps I am just "seeing" improvements where there is simply waxing and waning of symptoms as standard....? Could it be that I am just seeing what i want to see? My friend says to relax that the remedies may take moths to work but cannot wait that long!

Will keep posted.

Regards

I have a 3 week old bunny who somehow was either born with, or the mother may have caused this injury at some point to the baby. He has hind legs that spread out on either side of him like airplane wings. He manages to adapt and scoot around like a seal, but I was just wondering if there may be any treatment or therapy that could possibly help him in his mobility. I just feel so sorry for him not being able to jump and hop and move around like a normal rabbit. I would appreciate any info at all!

Thank you,

A good first aid tip if you or your horse has a small cut (ie less than an inch) -you can use a few drops of tea tree or lavender essential oil directly onto the cut. Tea tree has anti-viral and anti-fungal properties and lavender is an anti-inflammatory, soothing, pain reliever. You can also use them on bites or stings.

1. You need to treat your pet's external environment (their; house, yard and coat/fur)and internal environment (i.e. their internal systems).

2. Bath your pet with shampoos containing natural ingredients (either homemade or store bought). Bath them outside as you don't want your house infested when the fleas leave your pet.

TOP TIP: Put some shampoo around your pet's collar area to catch the flea as they move up the body to dry ground i.e. your pets head. Remember to comb them afterwards.

3. Rub or spray natural homemade flea sprays and homemade herbal flea powder into your pet's coat/fur.

4. Use essential oils. Lavender, Eucalyptus, Tea tree, Neem seed, Peppermint, Citronella, Lemon, Lemongrass, Cedar, Clary sage, Pine, Bergamot and Rosemary are all effective for de-fleaing your pet. (Please note that tea tree, peppermint and pennyroyal oils CAN BE TOXIC FOR CATS AND KITTENS - PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR VET BEFORE USE).

5. Oils can be used on; your pets, their bedding, when bathing them and when cleaning the house. CAUTION some essential oils can be toxic for some animals -if in doubt check with your vet before use.

6. Clean your/your pet's house with a natural cleaner. When you vacuum put Diatomaceous earth (DE) in the bag to ensure all fleas are killed and if required steam clean furniture and carpets. TOP TIP: Leave a lamp on overnight with a bowl of soapy water underneath. The light attracts the fleas and they then drop into the water.

7. Dust your pet's yard/garden and coat with Diatomaceous earth (DE).It MUST BE FOOD GRADE (Pool grade is toxic) to kill adult fleas. Also use beneficial nematodes in your garden to kill flea larvae (available from organic garden centres)

8. If you use a flea collar make sure it is a herbal one. Chemical collars expose your pet and family members to chemicals constantly.

9. Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) can be given to your pet internally via water and food and applied externally to your pet's skin if diluted with water (50:50).

10. Support your pet's internal environment.
· You can do this by using alternative medicines (e.g. homeopathy, herbs, oils etc) and therapies (acupuncture, chiropractic, reiki etc) that promote a healthy, balanced and strong internal environment.
· Make sure you minimise your pet's exposure to chemicals.
· A healthy diet is also essential. Adding cod liver oil, black walnut hulls and garlic to feeds help. Herbs that will support your pet internally when fighting fleas are; St. Johns Wort, nettle, garlic, burdock root, red clover and dandelion.

1/2 cup / 120ml lemon juice

2 tsp. / 10ml citronella oil (use pure plant based oil)

2 tsp. / 10ml eucalyptus essential oil

And EITHER:1 Cup of Water & 1 Cup Vinegar (I use White Wine Vinegar) OR: 2 Cups of light mineral oil

NB if you use the 2 cups of oil it can attract alot of dust to your horses coat

"I consulted a homeopath. They recommended low potency (6c) Cantharis 4-5 times a day and urtics urens (30) which I did every couple of hours initially and then if I remember correctly stopped after about 36 hours (sorry his last episode was years back!) I gave "wet doses " which basically meant I give it in liquid form - you can use an eye dropper or a syringe".

FELINE CYSTITIS - Apple Cider Vinegar

Taken from alternatives for animals forum

If you pet isn't urinating properly /for blood in urine - it could be an emergency -so it really is best to get a veterinary opinion ASAP

Put 1/2 tea spoon of Apple Cider Vinegar in 1 and 1/2 cups of water and also feed 1/2 a teaspoon in wet food 3 times a day until my kitty was back to normal - which took about 4 days. Ensure your cat has access to plenty of water

or

Put 1/2 teaspoon of ACV to 1 cup of water, take a syringe and put about 2 tablespoonfuls in, and squirt it directly into your cat's mouth. Or mix about 1/2 a teaspoon well into wet food. She had improved in 24 hrs and back to normal in 3-4 days
