  • Independent Product review – Cornucrescine for Hooves

The below is an Independent Product review sent in by Naomi who used Cornucrescine on her horses hooves.

I bought this mare sight unseen over the internet with what was described a slight seedy toe. Upon getting her home and removing her front shoe, the packing dropped out to reveal what can be seen in the before photos. Most likely the result of a severe abscess, it was fairly major and the separation of the hoof wall extended upward toward the coronet, with the hoof making a hollow sound when tapped above the injury. In a state of mild panic (as it was July and the ground at that point was water logged and muddy) I rang my farrier who came to look at it. Bless Peter, after examination, he suggested I purchase a product called Cornucrescine and massage it into the coronet band of the affected hoof, in addition to applying Hawthorne hoof dressing to the rest of the hoof area. His experience had revealed that the product would promote rapid growth of the hoof.

Though slightly skeptical, but a touch desperate, I purchased the product from my local saddler stockiest and applied it daily to the affected hoof. I was absolutely amazed at the speed with which that damage grew out and absolutely astounded that by November there was no sign of the abscess or hoof damage. (see after photos)

My farrier came and trimmed it regularly to prevent chipping and damage and the mare was obviously lame for most of the intervening period, however one year on she is totally sound, with no hoof damage and is the proud mum of a Friesian Warmblood filly. I can totally recommend this product to anyone who wants to stimulate hoof growth and I continue to apply it regularly in the summer months along with the Hawthorne hoof dressing. Cheers,Naomi
